Young Americans press for youth-oriented job creation
Today, young people are turning to entrepreneurship to overcome a tough economy, and in the process, creating new businesses and new jobs. Now is the time to support this movement. That's why our organizations support the Youth Entrepreneurship Act, legislation designed to make it easier for young people to start a business. The Act includes student loan forgiveness programs, expanded access to micro-loans, and increased investment in entrepreneurship education. All of our voices must be heard. The Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) and Young Invincibles worked to identify three core policies for helping young entrepreneurs: 1) Education, 2) Access to Capital, and 3) Student Loan Relief. Together they make up the broader Youth Entrepreneurship Act (link to policy brief). They also worked with Representative Cedric Richmond to introduce a great new bill called the "Microenterprise and Youth Entrepreneurship Act of 2011." You can read the entire bill online.
